I used to use the Coleman mix of equal parts of milled sphagnum moss,
vermiculite and perlite but changed over to Lynn¹s mix after reading The
Flower Farmer:
2 parts sifted compost
2 parts sphagnum moss
1 part perlite
1 part coarse river sand (or I substitute vermiculite, because I have it)
The above is for germination in flats, then when I transplant them into
cells I use the above and add to each 6 gallons:
1/4 cup blood meal
1 cup bone meal
I just mix it all in the wheelbarrow much like you'd mix concrete.
