I went to the Mississippi Tomato Short Course last year and was disappointed
(as an organic/eco farmer)....it focused on huge scale enterprises (with an
expert from Israel, who I am sure was excellent) totally chemically
oriented, even though Rick Snyder, the person in charge, is very supportive
of sustainable ag, it is just not a part of the Mississippi mindset....dont'
forget, we are the land of Monsanto (delta land and pine, here in miss. did
the Terminator Gene research)

But, that is just my opinion - there were LOTS of folks who were repeaters,
coming every year in fact, since they cover such different topics each year,
from the previous - again, it is a good deal for such a low price, but not
at all geared toward sustainable agriculture practitioners (though many of
you could probably make sense of their stuff for your own farm, if you are
coming a long distance, why not call Rick first and ask him about this
year's agenda: he can be reached at 601-892-3731 or email:
RickS AT ext.MsState.edu. Rick is a great guy and will gladly send you the
program so you can decide!)
