Thinking along the retail mall lines again and wondering what a store has to
pay mall management for retail space. With that in mind, how much (?$?)
would each farm need to pay by the space (a 3 space vendor should pay more
than a 1 space vendor) at a market with, say, 25 vendors (selling from
mid-April to the end of October) to properly compensate a market manager
who:

well, maybe we should work on a job description too.

I would say a market manager should:

1. Maintain farmers' market records
2. Develop and promote the market on a continuing basis.
3. Develop and disseminate current info on taxation, health dept. rules,
liability or any other issue that would be of concern to those doing sales
at the market.
4. Enforce market rules.
5. Visit each farm twice during the growing season (beginning and end) to
verify crops and discuss market concerns with each farm.
(OK, for 25 vendors that's 50 visits a season - 25 in spring and 25 in
fall)
