You mention a lack of insect problems in the
hoophouse. My experience is that it takes a while for insects to find them but
when they do, they proliferate in that protected environment. You have to keep a
close eye on the crop. On the other hand, diseases seem to be significantly
reduced, particularly foliar blights. This is probably due to lack of leaf
wetness. Powdery mildew can become a problem in the Fall though.
