Title: Re: more greenhouse clarifying questions!
Having taken a clue from seeing Lynn’s hoop house last spring, we added the roll up sides to our rebuilt hoop house and removable end pieces for winter sunny days.  Then as the weather warmed up we put the shade cloth over the whole thing with the sides rolled up in place.  I cut lettuce from there until into July – picked bright lights chard for every market day (the only chard that did well last year) - and started my fall flats in there.  I was afraid it would be too hot also but I think the air movement at ground level like that helped a lot.  I also noticed that the hoop house didn’t have the insect problem that we had in the neighboring field.  Don’t know why.  We have a single layer of plastic.  I picked chard and kale from it the other day and have only put on a double layer of remay over the beds.  Spinach, lettuce, greens, and even the little hakeuri turnips are doing fine.  Ours is very low tech and has proven to us we want a bigger one!
