Thanks Phil!

Are you the fellow I met at the St. Joe Veg. Conference?  I have a feeling we will be putting all those unused emu panels to good use this summer!  And yes, the panels are 16 feet - I went out and measured one.  So you don't use a tent stake to hold the panel down?  They just rest in the trenches.  Thanks for your good information.

Hi Marie,  this is Phil from Iowa.   I've been using hog and cattle panels
for a number of years and they are real simple to put up.  Dig a trench about
6" deep in the ground for one side of the panel and another trench about 6"
deep on the other side. Leave a space of approx 10' in between the trenches,
then put one end of the panel in one side of trench and  bow the panel up
until you can put the end of the panel in the opposite side trench.

They work great for  growing any  type of vining crops like burpless Cukes
and pole beans and gourds.  They work real well on growing cherry tomatoes,
tie the small tomatoes to these panels and they will grow up through them.

The best place to find hog panels are from the locale autions, manny hog
people have been forced out of business because they no longer have a market
place in most areas of the country.  Hog panels are 16' by 30" , cattle
panels are  16' by 48"  should be able to find used for about  8 to 10
dollars for hog, and 10 to 12 dollars for cattle.
