Great idea on using Emus!
Do they need special fencing, or will horse fencing do?

It depends on how big they are. We used chicken wire for the little ones
up to about two feet high - they can squeeze through woven wire, cattle and
hog panels when they're small. The small ones clear the sod faster than
full grown ones. The big ones just have a path worn on the perimeter.
Sometimes we attached a two-foot length of chicken wire to the existing
fence to keep the small ones contained. For full grown birds, the taller
the fence the better. If they get excited enough, they can get over a
cattle panel, but usually don't.
We would like to get rid of all our emu. Would you like to have them?
