In response to the 20/20 fearmongering piece, somebody on the list wrote: "Sex sells better, but they could hardly put a sexual slant on organic farming."

I apologize for not capturing the identity of the author. Still working on my reading-the-list-with-notepad-open system.

Can anything be sexier than the dance of life in organic farming? The Green Man and the White Lady are alive and well and very happy in my fields and forests, thank you! (So is Jesus, just in case anybody wonders.) <G>

Maybe that's what the chemical companies are afraid of -- if we organic farmers ever figured out how to connect our product to the sexual energy inherent in it, nothing will stop us!

But then if we mention that testosterone levels in male humans have dropped 50% during the 50 years that chemical pesticides and fertilizers have been in vogue, then we're accused of fearmongering.

For me, organic gardening and farming is very sexy. Most of the "organic folks" I know are also resonating at a more life-ful and passionate level than most of the members of the Great Status Quo of society.

So how can we communicate this sexiness in a tasteful and family-oriented way? I'll bet it'd be an awesome marketing tool!

Thank you, John Stossel, for moving my thinking in that direction!
