Another note about Reply's and email programs:

I currently use Claris's emailer Lite, a free simple program supplied by
the internet provider. It has the ability to set up filing folders to
save downloaded messages. Nice program, but pretty much the same as
Eudora and others I've used in the past.

When you hit reply to a message from the list, it doesn't matter whether
you choose the sender or everyone. The message, according to the program,
comes from the list, NOT THE INDIVIDUAL SENDER. You can reply to the
individual two ways:
1) After hitting reply, look at the address box, which will most likely
read "market-farming AT franklin.oit.un" Highlight the box, and type in the
individual's address
2) Start a new letter, addressed to the individual. Cut and Paste what
you want into the new letter & go from there.

As for reply's that automatically put the entire message into the reply -
most programs have "Preference" windows that you can program whether you
want this feature. If not, just erase what you don't need before
composing the rest of the letter.

As Marcie has pointed out several times, keeping messages "clean" (ie,
minimal original texts in replys & minimal responses directed at an
individual) will facilitate discussions, not overload rural mailboxes,
and (quite frankly) be more inviting for those lurking to contribute.
>From lurking experience, there's not much draw to conribute to a list
where 90% of postings come from 6 or 8 folks (not a criticism, just a
personal observation).
