I can whole- heartedly agree with your last two words Paul. Grow food!
John
Referring to differences between parties again: the colossal differences are largely over social issues & everything that would help the middle class - where Repubs demand return to 1850 in all ways, & every possible measure to make the rich richer & poor poorer. On foreign policy Obama's wound down 2 wars & avoided others in spite of constant opposition in Congress. We have a whole TV network openly dedicated to his destruction, Fox "News". Unlike some countries' parliamentary system, he does not have a legislative majority to carry out his own elected agenda.  Nor can he dictate policy to the NSA, undo the Patriot Act, stop gun violence, or close Guantanamo. Our Constitution limits presidential powers & separates government into 3 branches. BTW Bush's final approval was at 20%. I also hate the secret trade pacts but keep in mind that the big banks rule our countries, not us, nor our elected politicians.

What to do? Get out of the system as much as possible, stop feeding the system with debt & consumerism & corporate employment, help build a new order in the dying shell of the old, & survive all the coming storms. Grow food.

I can't personally understand that Obama's approval rating is still 50 %. Guantanamo, patriot act, NSA spying, secret trade pacts that only benefit those 400 billionaires, false flag operations by the dozen and worst of all he seems to be steering straight for WW 3 at the moment. That is not going to improve any our gardening attempts.
Granted that I would find it even worse if a creationist, climate denying nutcase were steering the same course.
John
That's the standard myth the corporate media & our 400+ billionaires want people to believe, both parties the same - so people won't vote, which helps them win. That's what Europe sees too. The actual differences in the parties are so extreme as to be almost unbelievable. I've seen (and sent out) hundreds of news items & reports bearing that out. Which is why Obama's approval is just under 50% and Congress (the House) approval is down to 7% and dropping by the hour.  I put out much on that on Twitter @NetNewsBuzz  with almost 4000 followers. For me tho, learning to live on the land is more critical than the politics. I'd like to be growing for markets in Copenhagen or Gdansk.

I agree. There are a very few consciencious people there that are worthy of getting a new term. Most however are most definitely not. They are pocket filling corporocrats and it does nake a single difference whther they are one party of the other. The two parties are basically the same really as seen through European eyes and they both work for the 1 %.
John
Well, defeating all incumbents doesn't accomplish a damm thing, could end up worse. It also promotes the myth that they're all wrong anyway regardless of party or issues.
