Couldn't agree more, particularly about using them for real food .... problem being is usually the food stamps don't amount to more two or three hundred dollars a month ... so and pardon my sarcasm here ... people tend to do what they do in a failed state where they don't really have a 'vote' and buy whatever's being sold and subsidized (read cheaper). Heck I'd be happy if they let people use food stamps to buy seeds (as long as they weren't from a monsanto owned seed company).
The funny thing about congress is you never really know what's going on with them, it may be the food stamp portion of the ag bill will get resurrected as a a portion of a transportation or an energy bill in order to make it harder for the average citizen to comprehend how their
being 'governed'.

This was interesting because the reason it went down was not because of the restoration - it was voted againt by food stamp proponents because it also installed block grants which will suck and was focused on 14 states that were abusing the system.....
this is all such a freaking mess.... they could just take the moola for sugar, corn and soy and put it into the people food system... our local farmers market takes oregon trail cards (food stamps) which means that you can purchase all the local organic food you want through the market year round.... and I would love to see food stamps be limited to whole foods only.... It would sure change the whole
dynamic....
