These are interesting articles. I am glad that the points about subsidies is balanced with the mention about subsidies to the conventional farmers. I have to agree that without significant oil and Ag subsidies our current industrialized Ag structure would collapse back to far more local and sustainable systems. It is certainly worth looking at New Zealand and Cuba to see the effects of the suddenly cut subsidy flow.
What I DO know is that the cost of Organic and the certainty of non-GMO is driving my own gardening efforts and my search into farms and garden trades that are close enough I can speak to the grower. I HAVE at least once, found a grower that was using GMO corn seed without understanding that his customers did not want to be eating BT, rather than the bugs for whom it was intended.
