Harvey I have 4 hens and a rooster that are completely free range.  They roost in a big magnolia tree at night.  So far so good.  I only seem to loose chickens when they are conventionally housed.  So I've allowed this group to do their thing.  Only problem is finding the eggs as they seem to move nests quite often.  I tried co-housing with turkeys.  That was a mistake.  The tom turkey flattened my rooster . . . not to bright that one.  At that time I was running them in a hoop/dome house made from pvc.  I had a tarp over the top for a roof.  Summer running only that way.  I have pictures somewhere of when it was constructed, but none with the tarp over it.
