Funny I never found that when reading the Original teachings of the Founders of this form of Agriculture.
I think the problem is that a lot of wacko's have begun to filter into the field.  Just go back to the Basics and read those books again.  I'm thinking that learning to make a difference right where you are, and using the resources that exist around you is more sound.  Permaculture after all is Permanent Agriculture.
Try to make a life that is self sustainable, self implying not yourself but what you help to create from your land.
MY goal with this is to find ways to return the waste stream I create back into the soil as close as possible.  My Hands are tied with Laws and red tape here in my City when dealing with my personal waste Black water and grey water. But we have taken to recycling every bit of organic food scrapes, paper, leaves, grass, wood chips, etc back into the land. Now if we could get the government or someone to come up with an alternative to plastics that can not be recycled our waste stream here would be greatly reduced if not totally stopped.
We each do what we can do..
This may be a sore subject but has anyone looked at the Organoponic's work Cuba has done.  We need to adapt that to our lives..

One form of permaculture is to become nomadic.
Another is to rip up the freeways and railroads and "let the buffalo roam".
Mother Nature was practicing permaculture before humans, yet we think
that we can do it better. Only because we think we are important.
