Reason for the Gas Prices

Today's  Lubbock Avalanche Journal had a short article on the editorial page that was an eye-stopper !

"From The Left" by Jim Hightower. distributed by Creators Syndicate; LA, CA.  Article Titled "

"Commodity Traders Jack Up Crude Oil Prices;"   {from the article}

The biggest cause crude oil has gone from $60 to $140 in two years is not OPEC, or increased demand from China.

Instead, it's that same fun bunch that brought us the collapse in today's housing market: rich speculators, working through global investment banks and hedge funds.........using a mischievous mechanism know as the Enron Loophole.

......................

This loophole was written by Enron lobbyists, rammed through Congress in 2000 by then-Senator Phil Gramm [of Texas] and signed by Bill Clinton.

.............................

By the way, John McCain's top economic advisor is Phil Gramm, who recently convinced McCain to oppose efforts to close the Enron Loophole."

Does this sound like California energy futures traders?
