Paul,

In Europe we signed a lot of petitions and send them to
politicians and the European Parliament. In the end we
achieved that GM foods has to be identified by labelling,
even though in the small print only. But Washington
had put on a lot of pressure to get no labelling at all.

At the moment, various organisation consider a
"GM-free" label that is easier to identify by the
consumer. Considering that most consumers in
Europe would rather not eat GM foods, this has
a good chance of success. No food company
is going to willingly alienate a substantial portion
of its customers.

I think, at the very least, we ought to be able to
choose what we eat.

It is the illusion of election, Dieter, in this country. We can still
affect local politics tho. and that gives me hope for communities.
