This wasn't coastal bermuda grass it is commonly called wire grass here and once you have it getting rid of it is nearly impossible, but he seems to have found the silver lining to that one pest.

I am talking about the original Bermuda for lawns straight from Africa and there it looks just like what I have here: pure, true, african.
