And, by the way, I think this is a great
idea. Hope it works as a model for others to try. Farmer's
Markets can't be open enough hours each week, in bad weather, or off-season, so
they stress the farmers and limit the customers. Supermarkets don't work
as a farmers outlet, so banding together into a guild is a time-honored way to
promote common interests. Of course, it will have its own unique set of
problems, but I think it addresses some major "outlet" problems.
Combining the store with a restaurant might also
provide for a health-department approved commercial kitchen to process produce
into higher-value products, which could then be sold in the store.
