Worms till the soil and fertilize whether you put out coffee grounds or not.  They live below and feed at the surface.  If I had coffee grounds I would spread them over my beds.  I feel it is not worth the time it will take to get them compared to other organic materials that are available:  bedding from stables, manure, old hay, etc.
 
Grounds are acidic so it really helps soils that are above 7.  Adding organic matter moves the ph toward 7.  I changed my soil from 8.2 to 7.2 in two/three years.
