To double dig take one row a spit deep and put into a pile at the end of the bed (or divide the bed in half longways and place the soil at the end of the second half). You now have a trench going halfway across the bed. Turn the soil of this trench over. Dig the next row over onto the dug soil and then dig over the trench that is left. Keep doing this until you get to the end of the bed and place the soil first dug up on top of the last trench. By the way it is hard work. By dividing the bed longways you work up one side of the bed and back down the other.

hi all,
Paul keeps talking about these "double-dug beds." how
does one prepare these? i know this must have been
covered before, but how about a refresher.
