- Subject: [Livingontheland] Too late to mulch garlic?
- Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2006 18:55:31 -0800
I've never grown garlic before, and due to major flooding, followed by major windstorms, I got mine in the ground pretty late. Now we've had a major chill with snow. It's thawing now, and I am wondering if it's too late to mulch the garlic in. I was hoping to use my cedar chip/chicken poo bedding for mulch.
I'm in Whatcom County WA, just a few miles south of the Canadian border in a microclimate bordered by Cascade foothills, the Nooksack river, and open prairie-type farmland. Hopefully the garlic will manage through my ineptness.
How do you all grow garlic in your areas?
