Organic University is a project of the Midwest Organic & Sustainable
Education Service. Held annually in February - La Crosse, WI
http://www.mosesorganic.org/ou/ou.htm

Over 400 people attended the 2006 Organic University (OU) held each year on
the Thursday prior to the Upper Midwest Organic Farming Conference.

The following information is from the last Organic University, which was
held at the end of February in 2006.

These in-depth courses are designed to provide information critical to
successful organic farming. Planned by a panel of experienced presenters,
many of whom are farmers themselves, each course offers the opportunity to
spend a whole day digging into specific topics relevant to organic
production. You will not only receive the best of your presentation
team’s knowledge, but will also leave the session with a resource book to
refer to long after you return home. Small classes encourage a discussion
format so that your particular questions get answered.

The 2006 Organic University Courses were:

1. Advanced Organic Apple Production
2. Organic Dairy Production
3. Beyond the Basics: Poultry on Pasture
4. Producing Seed & Breeding Crop Varieties on Organic Farms
5. Organic Beef Production
6. Commercial Herb Production & Marketing
7. Soil Biology & Humus Farming
8. Transitioning to Organic Agriculture
9. Organic Agriculture 101

Click on this link for complete information about the courses.

The Organic University began in 2001 with six courses dealing with
transitioning to organic, organic transplant production, soil management,
organic market gardening, organic livestock production, and an introduction
to organic farming. A total of 19 courses have been offered over the five
year history of the OU, with some topics offered once or twice, others more
frequently. Ten courses, up from eight in 2004 and nine in 2005, will be
offered in 2006. Click on this link for a complete History of the Organic
University.
