Don't forget that it's the type of metal as much as the type of ink base.
 
Call your local newspaper, and ask for the print manager or press manager, that person should be able to say if the inks are biodegradable or not.

I've never heard that not all soy inks are metal free. Where do I find that information?

from what i know from a local printer, it is not just the ink base that is the issue, but the dye, so you can have soy inks that are still toxic.  don't know how much of an issue this is, but not all soyinks are metal-free.
