...."may move toward a requirement for mandatory premises and animal
identification"?? The USDA's timeline calls for that part of NAIS to become
mandatory by January, 2008.

And you're missing out on one of the biggest invasion of privacy. Every own
of even one chicken, cow, horse, pig, exotic bird or any livestock animal
will be required to register and receive a Premise ID #. This ID# will be
linked to a GPS satellite system. Anytime the government suspects farmers
might not be truthful about reporting how many animals they have they can
just use satellite surveillance to check them out. By 2009, livestock
owners will be required to fill out a report everytime they move an animal
on or off their place. That means if you take your horse trail riding, you
have to report where you take it exactly and when you bring it back. Go to
a show, another report. Take a lamb to a spinning demonstration, don't
forget to fill out a report. Failure to do so could result in a fine or
confiscation of the animal. Farmers and rancher are about to become more
closely watched than sex offenders or other violent criminals. Help us
fight this outrageous invasion of privacy. Go to
http://nonais.org/ for more information.
