You are correct in that I did not consider the term "synthetic"
in the original paper. Regardless the ability to produce in a rapid
fashion huge quantities of real biologically viable humus by using
humus precursors and biochemical processes that are used in nature has
been achieved by Soil Secrets in Los Lunas New Mexico. This image below
shows a chunk of this Cultured Humus as it comes out of the tubs ready to be
charged with the inoculant microorganisms that are being targeted for specific
crops or landscapes. This sample of Humus is nearly pure material and is
indistinguishable from that found in a rich soil, except this is nearly
100 percent pure while the best soil rich in humus found in the world is much
lower in percentage of Humic substances.
