Tom

You are just full of little innovations! And the goldfish is imaginative.

Where do you get the barrels? I was after one for my 86 year old mother who lugs cans of rain water to her garden. If I put the barrel higher up, she can use the rainwater with a regular garden hose.

Hi John,

I have a neighbor who saw my ganged rain barrels and did one better…

He ganged together some rain barrels, put a submersible sump pump in one (with garden hose fittings) and used it to do his final rinse on his car when he washed it.

The village’s water is so hard if you do not rinse with rain water, you get a horrible white film all over the car.

He does no gardening, so he has plenty of water to wash his baby [1970 Catalina].  Not sure how much gas that uses!  (ha, ha)  It makes that deep, throaty V8 sound that today amounts to lots of fuel.  My old 1958 ChrisCraft cabin cruiser made the same noise.  It had a Fireball V8, and that same throaty noise, and the blub, blub as the dual exhaust pipes went into the water is sadly missed.  I am sure my boat is in “boat heaven” by now.  I got rid of it in 1989.

It is much easier to keep trees than boats, and much more economical.

Later,

Tom
