Hi,

The group is just very very slow, and it is my fault, as I have not
promoted it. The reason I started the group was to have a home for
labrusca hobbyists.

I use a very basic process and I enjoy the wine from labrusca grapes. I am
still a little confused by the "foxy" designation. The way the term is
bandied about, you would expect foxy to be a synonym for unpalatable, but
in my experience it is not.

In regards to the Concord pruning... It depends if the vine grows
vigorously, moderately vigorous, or weak.

The example shown in my book indicates this; (6 cane Kniffen trained)

Very Vigorous Concord
pruned off 4.5 pounds of cane
60 buds remaining

Moderately Vigorous Concord
pruned off 2.25 pounds of cane
40 buds remaining

Weak Concord
pruned off 1 pound of cane
30 buds remaining

Hope that helps your Concord situation.

I am in SW Ontario but grew up in North Andover, MA (Merrimack Valley).
The growing conditions are the same. Just as the Atlantic mitigated
winter temp-s, the great lakes do the same here. The difference between
winter here, and winter there is negligible.

Later,
Tom
