Having tried making Concord wine from both bottled juice
(Welch's) and from the real thing (grapes), I can tell you that
they will turn out markedly different. I find that because most
of the juices have been pasteurized, the wine, although deeper
in colour, will taste somewhat stewy. Wine made from ordinary
Welch's grape juice is pretty bad stuff. I'd go with either
fresh grapes, or see if any of the growers who sell to home
winemakers will press it for you. Apparently there are some who
do this with varietal Niagara, for instance.
Good luck.
Paul
