We tried Sugar for six months, and even contracted for the pay

Daylite is OSX only, but has other advantages such as excellent email
integration, excellent reports, and a very customizable GUI.

In my quick glance at the web site, I really can't figure out how
this works. Is it client/server? I want something that can tie my
whole company (of Mac users) together better than Sugar. i.e. I want
to share contacts, opportunities, etc.

Daylite runs on top of the OpenBase database server. In the single- user mode the database runs as a separate background application; in the case of multiple clients, you stick the database on a separate server, and can take advantage of the shared calendar, resource scheduler, and project management. Your supposed to be able to create a copy of the main database in your laptop when you go on a trip, and then sync the changes back, but I haven't used those features.

My favorite feature is how it automatically assigns emails to projects, so if I'm exchanging calls and emails with a client with a dozen employees, all of the emails, notes, and tasks on that project are grouped together in the project management view.

There's even a plug-in architecture if you want to extend the functionality.
