These days it is absolutely necessary to check behind and watch
any contractor as they do the work.

The only scenario I've seen for this is the contractor is the guy with the van who picks up the day laborers from the street corner. The people he hires may or may not have experience building the particular item that day, say a fence, and its the contractors job to make sure its done right, otherwise, I might as well pick up the day laborers myself and tell them to build a fence!
