I will be travelling to NY in the fall and am about to book airlineI recommend JFK, followed by EWR. JFK has AirTrain access to the subway (E, J, Z lines at Jamaica, A line at Howard Beach). EWR has AirTrain access to NJTransit - the AirTrain fare is $5, subway is $2, NJT will run about $14 to NYPenn which is at 33rd and 6th (all prices per person). Cab from LGA will run about $25 plus toll / tip and take just as long - and if you're not prepared for a roller coaster on city roads, no guiderails, and oncoming traffic, you're not prepared for some cab drivers. :)
tickets. Prices from RDU to JFK, LGA and EWR (Newark) are the same. My
hotel is in midtown Manhatten. Which airport is the easiest and most
economical to get to midtown using the subway (or any other transport
suggestions welcome). There will be two of us sharing the cost.
Plus, JFK is (IMHO) cleaner and in better shape than EWR or LGA - at least for the AA terminals, which is all I fly.
