And another tangent, if you need to remote a Linux desktop I found this thing to work really well:

I don't know if I setup something wrong but when I ran VNC server on Fedora and remote'd from my Mac it was so slow it was unusable.

Tangentially related, but if you really need to regularly control
another machine you might try Timbuktu-- the communication between
machines is much more efficient, and while VNC was maddeningly slow
over the internet, I can use a remote machine via Timbuktu almost
like it was in the next room.
