Hm, possibly they accidentally activated an accessibility feature? Maybe the system has the option of reversed or high-contrast text, for people with impaired vision.. What flavor of (I assume) Windows are they running?
Either that or font corruption, but that seems unlikely if it's affecting *all* (or even several) fonts.
