We had a bad flea infestation once. Not sure how we got it since our
two cats were strictly indoor animals. Anyway, in a period of about a
week things got entirely out of control. Vacuuming, collars, and
shampoo didn't work. A friend of ours recommended a spray you apply to
carpeting, furniture, bedding, etc. that disrupted the flea growth
cycle, either preventing eggs from hatching or juveniles from maturing
into adults. It took a couple applications over the course of a month
w/ shampooing the cats, but we eradicated our flea problem in that
apartment and they never came back.

For the life of me I cannot remember the brand name of the product we used.
