I found this on the beach this past weekend:

I said it might have a Coast Guard symbol stamped in it but now I think it was a Navy symbol (doing GIS to try to find it).  It was made of aliuminum, is hollow (the open end is on the ground) and even had a couple bullet holes through it.  Judging by the amount of barnucles attached to the outside and the number of bivalves on the inside I'd say it was out to sea for a while.

It was stamped with some other characters but google searches turned up nothing.  It stands about 2 feet tall or so.

Any ideas?
