a ticket is like a seat on a ride, or a timeshare condo. the movie house
"rents" you the seat for the duration of one film. if you stay for
another show, you must re-rent your seat, or else you are a "squatter."
it's not like copyright.
while sitting thru a second show may seem like a perfectly fine thing to
do in an empty theatre, think of the chaos if people tried to do so in a
sold-out premiere. bottom line: don't. or if you do, be prepared to take
the consequences if you are caught.
another thing to note is that theatres typically have very slim margins;
the popcorn costs so much because that's the only way they can stay in
business, given the exorbitant costs of renting the films themselves. if
you "take" one seat rental from them, you are benefiting at their
near-direct loss. again, it's not like copyright. ;-) if you take too
much, they'll go under, and no more theatre for you OR me. see
"Madstone".
