I picked up a Tamron zoom lens there (70-300mm) before going on mini-vacation this past weekend. I have started a Flickr page:

I haven't tried any Tamron zooms, but have good luck with used Nikons. You can get a 5-10 YO f2.8 Nikon zoom for $400-$600 which beats the heck out of the others in that price range.
