Topic: Bluetooth Wireless Technology
Speaker: Jamel Lynch, IBM

Abstract:
This seminar is designed to provide an overview of a low power
emerging wireless technology. Learn and explore Bluetooth, an open
specification for short-range wireless voice and data communications.
Originally designed as a cable replacement technology, Bluetooth
permits the ad hoc creation of Personal Area Networks (PAN), where
many small devices such as PDAs, computers, printers, and cellular
phones interact to provide telephony, network, and other specialized
solutions. Learn how Bluetooth can potentially free your work and
personal space from expensive cables in various usage models. Several
working Bluetooth demonstrations are planned including a Bluetooth
headset, printer, mouse, and cellular phone. Mr Lynch will also
discuss emerging wireless technology.

Bio:
Jamel Lynch is a Senior Consultant And IT Architect in IBM's Strategic
Consulting Group. He is responsible for architecting wireless and
system management solutions in IBM customer environments. Prior to
joining IBM's Strategic Consulting Group Mr. Lynch was a Development
Engineer in the Personal Computing Division at Research Triangle Park,
NC, in this capacity, he was responsible for integrating emerging
wireless technology, such as Bluetooth and Wireless Wide Area
Networking, into IBM's brand of ThinkPad systems.

Mr. Lynch has published wireless technical industry papers and
educational white papers for customers. In addition, he holds several
patents including a technique that mitigates radio frequency
interference between devices that operate in the 2.4Ghz spectrum. He
has been involved in industry consortia and task forces, including
chairing the Mobile
Advisory Council and serving as the Bluetooth Radio Frequency
coexistence representative.

Mr. Lynch holds a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the
Virginia Military Institute, and an M.S. Degree in Electrical
Engineering from the Virginia Tech College of Engineering.

Doors open at 6:30pm and this meeting is expected to end by 9:00pm.
