quality issues. Sr. Software Quality Analysts may have considerable client
exposure and company asset liability. They ensure that system tests are
successfully completed and documented and all problems are resolved for
implementation/conversion. Having a wide-range of testing experience, they
analyze test results and recommend corrective action that adheres to company
objectives and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways. They
may facilitate the development of corporate/product standards and
procedures, maintenance of a standards/procedures repository, and the
regular review of all existing standards/procedures. They may facilitate
process improvement initiatives. They may !
define high level system metrics, gather and report system statistics, which
includes researching and reporting explanations for major trend
fluctuations/anomalies. Sr. Software Quality Analysts establish and

They monitor project risks, schedules and/or costs.


Entry Qualifications define education and work experience requirements for
selection into the jobs described in the profile. These apply to both
internal and external candidates and are defined in terms of minimal and
optimal requirements. Minimal qualifications are required for candidates to
be considered. Optimal requirements describe preferred education and work
experience.
Minimal: High School diploma or equivalent with 3 years of software
quality/testing experience.
Optimal: Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3-5 years of software
quality/testing experience including demonstrated proficiency using testing
tools and utilities. Internal product knowledge preferred. QA/QC
certification preferred coupled with demonstrated project leadership skills

Summary

Sr. Software Engineers demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the
intricacies within a particular application or product suite. They do not
typically have direct supervisory responsibility, but may function as a
highly skilled technical resource or lead. Sr. Software Engineers are
accountable for designing and developing technical solutions that satisfy
business requirements for function, performance, security, and
maintainability. They perform all phases of systems analyses and design and
are typically assigned the largest and most complex applications. Sr.
Software Engineers assume responsibility for converting business designs to
technical designs, including all the internal components that make up a
complex application. Sr. Software Engineers define the application\'s
objective and overall scope. They may have direct customer contact and serve
as a technical resource for the customer in establishing appropriate
implementation priorities. Sr. Software Engineers may !
code programs, but typically for the most complex or critical pieces of a
project as required. They develop inclusive technical models/designs, and
write functional design specifications or enhancement documentation from
which detailed technical specifications and programs can be written. Sr.
Software Engineers lead and actively participate in system requirement
reviews, technical design reviews, process modeling, object modeling, and
data modeling for their assigned project. They demonstrate expertise in
programming and design principles, methodologies, tools and techniques. They
serve as a technical mentor to less experienced associates. Sr. Software
Engineers participate in the design and development of enhancements to
existing products, as well as the creation of new products. Whether
specializing in design or development, the Senior Software Engineer is
expected to perform in a leadership role within the project. The Senior
Software Engineer normally functions in one of!
two ways. First is in capacity of lead designer and project manager. The
Senior Software Engineer should be capable of leading the largest projects
(greater than 5,000 Person Hours). Alternatively, their expertise may be as
senior technical expert. In this capacity, the expectation would be that
they could develop design and code patterns for the most complex and re-use
intensive pieces of our products. This person would be expected to
contribute whenever there was the need for a novel development pattern.

Responsibilities
Must be able to:

Design and develop technical solutions that satisfy business requirements
for function, performance, security, and maintainability.

Perform all phases of applications systems analyses and design. This will
include requirements review, level of effort sizing, conceptual design,
detail, design, code and unit test, review of functional test plans, review
of documentation and warranty/issues modification to software in the field.

Research and analyze the root of the problem to determine and recommend
appropriate technical solutions.

Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of programming and design principles,
methodologies, tools and techniques.

Consistently demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the application or product
they support and perform a high degree of problem, impact, and risk analysis
when design changes occur.




Skills
Writing and unit testing complex software programs

Interactive program development, debugging techniques, and creating tools
to test code

C, C++, PowerBuilder Tandem, Pathway, Unix, XML, Wintel based C++

JAVA, J2EE, EJB, JSP, BEA WLS, Oracle

Client Server Design (MVC exposure/understanding)

Qualifications
Degree (MS, BS, BA etc.) with Concentration (Business Administrations,
Computer Science etc.): Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science / related
field, or equivalent experience

Minimum Years of experience:

5-7 years experience developing software programs in a Tandem setting.
