Advice and/or tesimonials wanted...

I'm in the market for a basic Win XP machine, mainly for QuickBooks and cross-platform testing of Flash apps and websites. I do most of my work on the Mac, and I'd forgotten what a blizzard of specs/parts/choices there are when shopping for a PC. I'm really not interested in pimping hardware. I just want a solid, affordable system and decent support when it counts.

Basic requirements:
- fast enough CPU to last a few years
- Win XP Professional (or is XP Home good enough?)
- 512 MB RAM (enough for basic operation?)
- 80 GB hard disk
- CD-R/DVD (read-only)
- no keybd/mouse/display
- quiet is important!
- small case would be great
- the cheaper, the better (but not junk)

These are the candidates I'm considering so far. I'm surprised there's not something cheaper in this class:
Shuttle G Series (http://sys.us.shuttle.com/BuildXPC.aspx?id=1099#)
Shuttle L Series (http://sys.us.shuttle.com/BuildXPC.aspx?id=1113#)
Dell Dimension 4700 (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/ dimen_4700c?c=us&l=en&s=dfh)

Any advice welcome! Thanks in advance,
