As of yet, I don't think Tivo does the individual tracking that we fear, at
least not that they are admitting. I just read a US News article about the
president of Nielsen Media Research (the world-famous TV Ratings company),

user stats useful to either Nielsen.

Whether it does individual tracking or not is open to speculation, but I can definitely tell that my Tivo is trying to record shows that it thinks I might enjoy. Sometimes it makes some really weird assumtions, though. Example: I like to watch soccer. Earlier this year MLS soccer and EuroCup 04 got rolling at about the same time, and my viewing habits went from seldom to several games a week all of a sudden. Around the same time, my Tivo concluded that I might also really enjoy some nice Mexican soap operas and Spanish-language variety shows as well.
