>but I don't believe the founding fathers set out to kill civilians,
summarily execute captured prisoners,
>etc. They were fighting to have their own elections, and the Iraqi fighters
are fighting to prevent their own elections.
I don't mean to rob you of your thunder but it's been well documented that
the founding fathers often did target, rap, mutilate
hang the families of those who sympathized with the foreign invaders.
Point aside, I think most could agree that the spiraling up of the shock
effect has taken a life off it's own (no pun intended) and
seem to run contrary to the very tenants these people are supposedly
fighting for.
So even if one was initially empathetic to their cause, their tactics are
clearly counterproductive.
Sort of like capitalism. In its original form was supposed to lift the
standard of living of all that it came into contact with.
I think we can see were capitalism run-amuck is going, and what its legacy
is in countries and US communities that
stand in its way.
Last point, which I rarely hear anyone speak on, the only resolution to the
terrorist threat is to heal the festering
pools of humanity that these people recruit from. In other words authentic
home grown, foreign sponsored democracy.
Anything else is folly. These terrorist, freedom fighters, etc will get
their hands on WMD. We are simply providing them with a ready and willing
talent pool to recruit from. This debate on which is the lesser of two
evils, Kerry or Bush is completely missing the picture. History is calling
for a leader that can shatter the social conscious and bring forth in the
hearts and minds of American's authenticity, accountability in creating the
version of herself that lives in our hearts as a hope for tomorrow. She,
history wants us to step into this vision of what we can be and be
accountable for having it manifest into reality. She wants us to inspire
others to their greatness by witnessing our action, conduct and results.
This is the only sustainable solution. Everything else will expedite
destruction, hate and chaos. I thought to myself years ago during desert
storm, if we keep going this route innocence will be the enemy. I thought
this would come true in generations later. 12 years later innocence has
become the target of rage and anger. Ideology hurled as tactical nuclear
weapons and reasonable discourse chided as buffoonery.
My faith in America has me hold to this: I know that the kernels of
greatness that currently sits still within our hearts is waiting to be
pricked by that one MLK type leader that will have us for a brief moment in
history really believe we can build that great society.
Your thoughts?
Steve
