.:I'd like to add that there really is no comparison between communes and the
.:Soviet brand of state communism
.:
Just to beat this horse one more time, I'd like to point out that there's
about as much similarity between (some) communes here in the states and
Soviet communism as there is between either and "pure" ("theoretical")
Communism with-a-capital-C. I'll leave the proof as an exercise to the
reader, but I assure you it exists.
Personally, I've never understood the American bigotry for "commie pinkos"
-- at least as anything other than bigotry. I'd much rather leave that
attitude in the middle of the last century where it belongs, but some
people get so attached. I'll be happy to see the day we can, as a
society, bring back our own Socialist and Communist parties -- as
flavoring in this great big wonderful American soup. That's idealistic I
know, but if I give up my idealism all I have left is the crap that BushCo
and the DemReplicrats and the barons of Wall Street want me to swallow.
No thank you.
.:Many living communes practice various
.:forms of small business capitalism without any ideological qualms.
.:
that's funny; I understand many surviving Soviets ("Russians" and others)
earn their living at similar pursuits.
