Does anyone have any experience with Apache processes appearing as
'defunct'?

-bash-2.05b$ ps -ef | grep httpd
nobody 31100 29250 0 07:50 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd
-DSSL
nobody 31355 29250 1 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31356 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31357 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31358 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31359 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31360 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]
nobody 31361 29250 0 07:51 ? 00:00:00 [httpd <defunct>]

I did some Googling. I found everything from "its no big deal and it will
go away" to "it's DDOS attacks".

I tried restarting Apache and they didn't go away.
