Corey, might as well narrow things down a bit. Are you looking for someone in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, ...?

Physical location doesn't really matter. I'm more interested in someone who is professional, attentive, & patient. With all the recent changes in my life, my tax situation is getting quite a bit more complicated and I need someone who will take the time to explain what we need to be doing both now and in the future.

I've used Shackleton CPA (located in Cary), and they were great at helping us through transitional periods like yours. More expensive than Block or others, but very thorough. They also match my temperament (pretty safe) on tax issues, which is something you might ask about.

Good point. I lean toward the safe side of the issues as well, and I favor thoroughness over economy almost every time.
