Chapel Hill, NC -- Nominations for the 2004 RTPnet Community Technology
Awards will be accepted through February 23, 2004. RTPnet, a Triangle area
community network, initiated Community Technology Awards to recognize and
honor individuals, organizations, institutions, and businesses that have
made significant contributions to North Carolina communities in the area
of information and computer technology.

For example:

* An individual who teaches computer and information technology skills,
inspiring students and extending their horizons.

* A nonprofit organization that has used technology to significantly
improve their capacity to serve their clients or an institution that is
providing technological support services to community nonprofits.

* A business that has incorporated programs focused on improving
information and computer technology services to North Carolina
communities.

"We ask that people nominate individuals and organizations, including
themselves, that are helping to bridge North Carolina's digital divide,"
said Judy Hallman, executive director, RTPnet. "Neighbors help neighbors,
organizations help individuals and other organizations, institutions and
businesses support local communities in their use of computers and
information technology in a variety of ways. Help us find and honor the
unsung heroes."

Nominees will be honored and winners will be announced at the RTPnet
Community Technology Awards Reception which will be held as part of
RTPnet's 5th Annual Conference, March 19, 2004, at The William and Ida
Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill.
