Internet
to communicate.
6. Bachelors degree and three years
experience in web design and
development.
Performance
Responsibilities and
Duties:
The Web is becoming increasingly
more important as a means of
communicating with staff, parents and
the entire community. The DPS Web
site is evolving as Central
Services
looks to the site to increase and
improve the efficiency
of services,
retool our operating practices and
strengthen
communications. As more
and more areas within DPS decide to
communicate this way, Central Services
needs a full-time Webmaster
to guide
and support the site, www.dpsnc.net.
The Webmaster
will work in the
Support Services Area, Office of Public
Affairs.
This individual also will work
closely with programmers in
Information Technology to maintain
and update the site. The
Webmaster is
responsible for the day-to-day
maintenance and
operation of the
official DPS Web site. This individual
coordinates Web functions, monitors
Web activities, incorporates
new
technologies into the site and
enhances the existing site.
The DPS Webmaster will have the
following key duties:
1. Manage
the design and content of
the DPS Web site in conjunction with
the
staff members in Public Affairs and
with programmers in Information
Technology.
2. Create new Web pages and update
existing Web pages
as appropriate.
3. Identify and implement
improvements to the
DPS Web site.
4. Work with staff and consultants to
develop and
coordinate consistent
graphics for the site.
5. Post digital images
to the site.
6. Work with school webmasters to
improve the quality
of school Web
sites.
7. Strategize with DPS departments
and
schools on new Web sites.
8. Provide design and Web writing
assistance to departments in
disseminating information via the Web
site (may include designing forms,
surveys and other feedback
opportunities).
9. Develop and implement Web
marketing strategies
to ensure that the
Durham community is aware of the
DPS Web
resources.
10. Perform additional duties as
assigned.
