Information Ecology Lecture Series: Marc Rotenberg

"Restoring a Public Interest Vision of Law in the Age of the Internet"

Date: Monday, 11/10/2003
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: Room 3043, Duke Law School (Corner of Science Dr. & Towerview)

How will we safeguard privacy in the digital age? What will privacy even
mean? Marc Rotenberg, one of the best-known privacy advocates in the world,
will discuss the future of online privacy and free expression - in areas
ranging from encryption and national security, to intellectual property and
healthcare - as well as the (surprisingly influential) role of public
interest organizations in shaping information privacy policy. Rotenberg is
the Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center
(www.epic.org) and the winner of the 2002 World Technology Award in Law.

This lecture is open to all. It will be followed by a reception on the 3rd
floor loggia of the law school, and is sponsored by Duke's Center for the
Study of the Public Domain and Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies.
To assist us with catering, if you plan to attend, please RSVP to Eileen
Wojciechowski at WOJCIECH AT law.duke.edu.
