Greetings, all. This morning I saw a Mac Workgroup Server 8550/132, unused, on sale for $99. I wondered whether anyone had an opinion whether it's worth it, just for something to monkey around with at home. It's got, I think, 16MB RAM, 2GB SCSI hard drive, 4x CD-ROM, ships with OS 7.5.

I've torn apart newer machines than that for parts, gotten for free or nearly free. IMHO that is too much $$$ for a machine that won't even run OS X.

You should be able to get an old iMac for that much now, which you can put a decent amount of memory in and a newer faster HDD. Put OS X on it or if you just want a server you can put OpenBSD or Linux on there.
