My bank and insurance companies have way more
info about me than Yahoo has about Michael.
It's really a matter of trust. Maybe you
would feel more comfortable if your data
was hosted at, say, First Union or BB&T?
I'm assuming Yahoo has a stated privacy
policy about what it can do with the data
and that recognizes Yahoo's responsibility
for keeping the data safe.
But a company has to be perceived as stable
to get that kind of trust.
Things get ticklish when a company files
for bankruptcy protection... I remember
there were some cases last year involving
dot.com's trying to sell private info
to satisfy creditors. Can't remember how
they came out.
